Jacob Henss is from the small town of Trenton, Illinois and began his dance training at Mckendree University with Katy Biver-Newcomb, Avidity Independent, and Coalescence Dance Company as a volunteer dancer. After transferring to Webster

University, Jacob has had the opportunity to work with Alan Schilling, Tymberly Canale, Roxane D'Orleans Juste, Maggi Dueker, Alicia Graf Mack, Monica Newsam, Beckah Reed, James Robey, and Michael Uthoff through both class and performances with the Webster University Dance Ensemble. Jacob has produced, directed, and performed in the student choreography showcase, Creation's Concert, for four semesters. In addition, he has performed in BFA Concerts, Dancing in the Streets Festival, American College Dance Association Regional Conferences, a Webster alumni show, and trained with Kansas City Ballet in 2015.  In 2016, Jacob was awarded the “Emerging Choreographer Award” from Webster University, and his choreography was chosen to perform at the ACDA Central Conference in 2017. Upon graduation from Webster University he will receive a BA in Dance, with a choreographic emphasis, and a BA in Music.

As The Other Sides has progressed, it has gone through many stages of evolution. Its original compositional focus was an eclectic plethora of religions, and now has progressed to a full length narrative. This abstract story of a father and daughter’s crusade develops as they address their relationship with each other, religion, and the other sides of themselves repressed within. The Other Sides is broadly based upon Saint Clelia Merloni and the hostilities pertaining to her father, while we also ponder the true uncertainty of what really is to come once we depart this life.
